"I am ordinary"
Have you ever thought that? Maybe you’ve even said that out loud. You hear someone say that God wants to do something in your life, but you immediately pull back and say, “Hey. I don’t know about this! I’m just an ordinary person. How can I make a difference?”
11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”
1 2And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.”
13 Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”
14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’ ” - Exodus 3:11-14
Moses is not sure how God can use someone so ordinary. In fact, Moses had a problem speaking in front of other people. He was under-qualified without God’s help. But that is what makes the story of Moses so incredible; he had to rely on God. We may find ourselves in a similar “burning bush” situation. God may call you to step out in faith and take on something bigger than you can accomplish on your own. You may feel like Moses and even say, “how can I be a Difference Maker? What makes me qualified?”
Good News
The good news of the story is that God is the one who qualifies you; it’s not about your own ability or strength. In fact, the Bible says that God’s power is made perfect in us through our weakness. When we dream big, believe, and step out in faith we are not alone. God is the one who calls us and He is the one who sustains us.
