Day 1 - What is Advent?
Advent means expectation. It's that almost-but-not-yet kind of feeling.
Advent is all about expectation and longing, and I think if we are honest with ourselves, we are all longing for something in our own lives.
Maybe this year has been difficult and you are longing for a fresh start. Maybe this year has been lonely because of the loss of a loved one. Maybe you are concerned about the state of our world. We can all find something that brings about those feelings of longing and wanting in our lives.
It is so easy to skip ahead to the hustle and bustle of Christmas (and all the joy that comes with the holiday season). There is nothing wrong with celebration, but we don’t want skip over the longing that brings us to the fulfillment of the promise of God.
